X-Tempo is the musical child of Peter Venezia and Kevin Roth, two New Yorkers who began playing music together in their early teens in the basement of Peter’s family’s home in Richmond Hill – the 1960s Queens equivalent of today’s “garage band.”
With Peter on the piano and Kevin on drums, they played in various bands as they matured into adulthood, including gigs with Alan Vega, Starcastle, Karnival, Cheap Perfume, Lost Patrol and Robin Tracey, before forming X-Tempo in 1992 to collaborate and play their own original music.
Together, Peter and Kevin developed the unique sound of X-Tempo and wrote all of its original music, performing for a decade throughout the New York City club scene including sold out performances at the Bottom Line, Bitter End, China Club and other well known clubs throughout Manhattan.
X-Tempo has brought its unique sound across the U.S. / Canada border and Peter and Kevin, its two original band members, continue to create music together over forty years after their first practice session in the Venezia family basement and over twenty years after X-Tempo’s first live performance at the infamous Down Time nightclub in Manhattan.
